I think one of those most glorious flavor combinations is the marriage of apples and pork. The apples provide a sweet, but not over powering flavor that the pork just absorbs it so well. This recipe comes with a warning... It will make your house smell so wonderful that you should make extra. We were doing some work around the house and the aroma was just amazing, we just couldn't wait to eat! I would say it was the most anticipated dinner as of late! I did get the idea for this, from one of my favorite recipes, Paleo Pulled Pork. (This is basically the non-crockpot version) We paired it with some Brussels Sprouts, and a small side salad. DELISH!
- 2lbs of Pork Chops
- 2 Onions
- 2 Apples
- Onion Powder
- Garlic Powder
- Salt & Pepper
- Pre heat oven to 350
- Cut up the Onions and Apples into slices, layer half of them on the bottom of your dish. Sprinkle with some cinnamon.
- Place the pork chops on top of the layer of onions and apples. Sprinkle with a generous amount of onion powder and garlic powder.
- Layer the rest of the onions and apples on top of the pork chops. Sprinkle with cinnamon, salt and pepper.
- Bake uncovered for about an hour (cook time may depend on the thickness of the chops)
** The apples and onions will be very soft and HOT. So be careful with the first bite!
